Day 198 – San Diego Gay Pride Parade

On the way home from yesterday’s San Diego Gay Pride Parade, Susan and I were talking about how this project has been good for us, in that we’ve gotten out more and gone to see sites and events that we might not have seen otherwise. Yesterday’s parade is a perfect example.

I didn’t know what to expect; not having been to anything like this before, but I’ve got to say it was an absolute faaabulous blast! There was an estimated 150,000 people there, and it was one of the most upbeat, festive , fun parades I’ve ever seen. If there was one thing I took away from this event; it’s that we (all too often) take ourselves way to seriously.

The parade started off with city officials like the San Diego Mayor, the fire department, the police department and then many politicians. After that, the procession of displays got a lot more interesting. Interested? Click on over to my smugmug set for more interesting parade photos….
