Day 324 – Flamboyant Flamingo

Santa Barbara is one of our favorite places. One of the many things we did this weekend was to visit the zoo, which is small but otherwise not lacking a thing. The animals are always active, it’s never crowded and you can view the animals up close. Adding a long zoom lens to the equation also helps, and it’s also how I took this picture. The temptation is always to take a picture of the larger scene or at best, isolating one of many subjects. Awhile back, I read an article in a photography magazine about zooming in – getting really close. It doesn’t apply to every situation, but in cases like this (with animals), it will almost always make a decent picture much more interesting.
