Day 315 – Moon set Over Tamarack Beach

This is the first time I’ve ever witnessed a moon set, which was pretty cool actually. It’s not nearly as bright as a sunset, so I could see all the detail of the crescent moon as it glowed increasingly orange as it neared the horizon. I had to choose which to emphasize; better balance of light for the foreground and a blown out moon, or almost a completely dark exposure but with the moon perfectly exposed. Since I already did a detailed moon shot yesterday, I opted for the full scene. Hope ya like it!

Shot using a tripod, a long exposure helped to create some smokey effects on the incoming crashing waves.

8 sec. | f/4.0 | ISO 2000
Minimal post processing; cropping and levels adjustment (contrast, brightness, noise reduction)
