Day 297 – A Strobist’s Tribute to Icarus

This is one of those shots where you use your own imagination with. I had this idea awhile back and it’s more of a symbolic but abstract concept of the human form and its dependence on light. It reminded me of the story or Icarus and his flight too close to the sun.

This one big studio light is the heart of my lighting setup and this big umbrella (or more accurately, a Parabolic Light Modifier) provides great light for just about any situation. I just never tried shooting straight into it before.

Strobist info:
AB800 with 64″ PLM diffuser at full power
1/125 sec. | f/22 | ISO 100

Brilliant Steve, unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
