Day 258 – Bridges and Trestles

I made a point to get down to one of my favorite beach spots for photos before sunset tonight.

This is Carlsbad State Beach, at a surf spot called Ponto, except I’m looking away from the beach. This surf break is at the mouth of Batiquitos Lagoon, and the water flows in and out with the tide. This isn’t low tide but it was on its way down. When visiting this beach, I’m usually looking the other direction like everyone else. The path less traveled once again hits pay dirt for good imagery.

I actually did a real HDR for a change. I say “real” because many HDR photos these days are built from one exposure (I do this all the time because I’m lazy). This one was created from 3 separate long exposures shot in sequence (normal, -1, +1) on a tripod mounted camera.

For some reason this seems “Oriental” to me… great color in the rocks up front, you never cease to amaze.

Thanks for all the comments; much appreciated!

I find it interesting that many of the recent favorites of people have been photos of alternate views; places where I am pointing the camera in the opposite direction of the main attraction. There’s a good lesson in that; “don’t always go with the flow.”
