Day 136 – Norway Day

Every Sunday, one of the thirty-two International Cottages at Balboa Park gets to showcase its heritage and celebrate with displays, dance, food, music and art. Today was Norway’s day, and we were there to see it. It was a nice traditional celebration, but when the children got on stage to do a traditional folk dance, it caught everyone’s attention. Too cute!!

A worthy runner-up, taking second place today was a crowd of people hording a food stand after a scavenger hunt which 15,000 people participated in, at and around Balboa Park. Since the sponsor of the event was a jewelry store, the winning pair gets a diamond ring valued at $15,000. Not too shabby for participating in a local event that resembles the Amazing Race show.

After the event was over, the Natural History Museum was turned into a food court with live entertainment for the participants. The upper floors were open to all as usual and I used that as a vantage point for this picture.
