Day 67 – Strobed Orchid

While the rain fell, I took our fake potted orchid out onto the front porch tonight and put the strobes to it.

The challenge was to make a fake orchid look as real as possible, in something resembling it’s natural setting.

Here’s the shot info:
Canon 5D Mark II | 1/160 sec. | f/11 | ISO 50 | 47mm

  • 430EX into small softbox at camera right (4 o’clock), slightly above at full power
  • 540EZ bare at camera left (10 o’clock), at 1/16 power

I’m getting a lot more into creating dynamic settings with lighting, with strobes and also combining them with natural light. I’ll have to start finding some people to practice on. 🙂
